Eze - Jewel of the Med

Unsung Heroes

La Bergerie is over 500 metros above the sea. Enjoy our terrace with breathtaking Mediterranean views ... with Eze village appearing like an island in a sea of blue. At night it's a glittering jewel, lit up by spotlights.

Further down the hill, the relaxed unpretentious seaside village of Villefranche with its beautiful bay hugged by the spectacular Cap Ferrat, played host to films such as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Madonna's WE… the story of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, King Edward and Wallis Simpson.

So you are in good company on the Cote d'Azur! People flock to St Tropez, but this is a wonderful unpretentious location on the Cote d'Azur.

Find us on Google Earth... Our co-ordinates on the Grande Corniche:
Why would we do such a thing? A customer asked for them.

La Bergerie is located in the Quartier de la Fort Revere. The disused Napoleonic Fort Revere sits high above us and is a popular spot for sightseers and people walking their dogs and taking views of the Alps and the French and Italian coasts.

It is surrounded by a massive dry moat but is not open to the public, probably for safety reasons.
Surprisingly, unlike an historic building like the Tower of London, this landmark is not celebrated with Gendarmerie telling the history of Fort Revere.

However, the Eze Tourist Office tells us that this impressive fort was used as a prisoner of war camp in the Second World War and there was a famous escape of French Resistance prisoners.
